On August 2000, a group of young adults filled with Gods love and with hearts full of fire from the Holy Spirit. With this in there hearts they were inspired to let everyone know about Jesus Christ and they answered the calling from God to Evangelize the world, they began the mission of taking the Gospel to the world beginning with the young adults at St. Mary’s in Fullerton, California USA.

At this time at the parish of St. Mary, there was not any youth group for the Hispanic community. During a meeting with the Deacon Carlos, they presented him the idea of beginning a youth group. Deacon Carlos and this group of young adults: Nelly, Alejandra, Adriana, Julio, Richard, Marcos, and Esteban, after having a good conversation about it Deacon Carlos authorized them to begin the project. They knew it was not going to be easy but they trusted in the Lord because they also knew that He was the one who put this vision within there hearts. The founders of the ministry remember with joy the first textual world the Deacon gave them when he opened the doors to welcome them “St. Mary opens the doors for you…” and that is how the vision for this young adults began after the meeting. The first oficial meeting was Thursday August 17, 2000.

Little by Little, the work began and goals were reached. One of them was to form different ministries within the group. That is when the music, prayer, and theater ministries started; they also began organizing retreats, worship nights, formation of faith courses, parish activities. Each time they would meet more and more people came. Those people began to get strong in their faith trough worship, prayer, and talks. After living this experience of being part of a youth group, some of them began to join the service group.

After a couple of years, a necessity surged. It was that many married couples were attending the group therefore; the talks did not fulfill the necessities of the couples. After visualizing the situation the married couples group was opened. That is not where it all ended, because shortly after they questioned what was going to happen with the kids; therefore, the kid’s ministry opened along with the teenager’s ministry. Now the meetings have a sense of a family reunion, its wonderful to see full families at the service of God.

One of the visions of the Group was the organizing a youth event where not only the youth of the parish St. Mary but many young people from other cities had a great experience of God. Therefore, 1er Encuentro Juvenil Catolico arises in 2007. This event was of great blessings. More than a thousand youth from different cities of California attended the event that took place at the Anaheim Convention Center. It was a great challenge to organize this kind of event it takes lot of support and confidence. One of the people who gave us the support was our parish priest father Jim Ries. We give many thanks to God for him, because he has relied on these crazy youth of the Gospel. Also, father Salvador Landa who supported us on this project. The community of little flock in Santa Ana, La Viña del Señor Church of St. Boniface in Anaheim, and many more people that they believed in this project, may God bless them always. This event takes place every year since 2007 up to the present. Currently around 100 people come every Thursday at our general meeting.
